Quick search engine optimization--or SEO--is a method of attaining high search engine rankings by using the correct words, correct placement and frequency of those words, and more. If you follow these 6 steps, you will be able to do your own search engine optimization for your website.
Step 1: Register
Get your domain name into the big three search engines--MSN, Yahoo, and Google. You don’t even need your site to be operating.
Step 2: Know Your Potential Customer
The vast majority our ideal customers will probably enter the same search terms to find you--use those terms in your content and titles for the writing on your website.
Step 3: Friendly Design
Don’t create a site that doesn’t appeal or write copy that doesn’t make sense. It wouldn’t matter how many keywords you put in, you will not get good rankings or have many people staying on your site.
Step 4: Keywords
These are very important to quick search engine optimization--know the exact words your ideal client or customer will enter into search engines to find you and get that phrase in your content at least 2% of the time (no more than 4%).
Step 5: Stay Fresh
Keep your writing, your links, and your design all fresh and current. A design that looks stale will make the writing seem stale even if it was posted yesterday.
Step 6: Get Backlinks
These are links that other companies provide to your site on their own web page. Don’t trade links, and don’t get links from just anyone. Quick search engine optimization is sometimes a little slower in the making.
